Be on the ground floor of the success of Dancing Classrooms! There is still time to donate in 2009 and get a year-end tax deduction. Or maybe it is easier for you to sign-up for small monthly donations and contribute a little bit each month.

 

We are well on our way, but need you to be part of this exciting beginning. Most funds go towards start-up costs, teacher training, and teacher salaries. It is wonderful to know that Dancing Classrooms has started in six schools in the Monterey area (Salinas, Pacific Grove, and Carmel). I am working with a very small team of people to meet this goal and we made our own gift and pledge to raise an additional $2,000.

 

Can you to help with a gift in the range of $500 to $1000? It costs $115 to sponsor one 5th grade student for twenty 45-minute lessons. Below are the beginning costs for our program:

 

$ 3,000 to sponsor one 5th grade classroom of 30 students for 20 lessons

$ 1,500 to sponsor one-half of a 5th grade classroom

$ 2,500 to train one teacher

$    750 teacher salary for one classroom, 20 lessons

$    100 classroom boom box

$ 3,000 to incorporate as a non-profit (currently operate under Action Council non-profit)

$ 1,000 for Laptop and printer

$    500 filing cabinet and bookshelf

$    550 website

$    250 brochures

$    400 Mad Hot Ballroom DVD’s (50)

 

To date we have received:

$   2,575 individual donations

$      500 Union Bank

 

$ 24,075   Total raised as of December 20

 

Bringing this program to Monterey County, the only Dancing Classrooms in California, will give our youth a sense of self-respect, pride, elegance and confidence while having a positive impact on the national problem of childhood obesity.
